Speech at the CHEMBA Alumni Association Transition Ceremony

Dear leaders of Lingnan College, Sun Yat-sen University, Dean of Carlson College, University of Minnesota, President CHEMBA and UMAA Guangzhou (Simon), Director of the CHEMBA, all Alumni present, as well as our new fellow students of CHEMBA22：

It is a great honor and pleasure for me to share with you my feelings on such an occasion. I am overwhelmed by excitement when Simon passed me the flag of our alumni association as I can feel the deep expectations from our fellow alumni.

Here, on such an important moment, I would like to say four “Thank you”s to express my feelings.

First, I would like to say “THANK YOU” to our new students of CHEMBA 2022. Thank you for choosing CHEMBA among many EMBA programs, that is the smart choice you did, just like I joined the CHEMBA in 2011, The program has helped me to improve my expertise, skills in corporate management and operational capabilities, bringing me a broader perspective and a better global vision. After the program, I start to run my own business, and what we learn from the class, benefit me a lot when I run my company.

Through 2 years study, I am sure you will have great change, you should make yourself-improvement with in two years. It is valuable opportunity to get down to studies, rediscover ourselves, and make new break throughs.

But in the meantime, it will be very challenging process. You can image, when you are exhausted after the work in whole week, you still need to attend classes, participate in group discussions and make presentations on weekends. I remember I had serval times when I am too tired and fell asleep in class. Sometimes we had difficulty striking a balance between classes and our work, or when we were too busy to care about our families.

I am sure during the two-year period, all of you will grow yourself, So when you need help, there are more people to turn to beyond the 20 classmates. Over 600 fellow alumni from our CHEMBA and UMAA are here to support you. You are always welcome to have free talks and discussions with us, the alumni association will always stand by your side!

Then the second “THANK YOU” I’d like to for Simon, President of Alumni Association, and the team under his leadership.The COVID-19 pandemic has haunted for three out of the past four years, which dealt a huge blow to individuals, families and companies. During the three years, the alumni association team led by Simon delivered supplies needed and care to our fellow alumni. It is exactly such care and love that united 600 of our fellow alumni as one.

My next “THANK YOU” goes to fellow alumni, who offered strong support to our new alumni association. When we were planning to build a leadership team for the new alumni association, over 40 fellow alumni discussed three issues together in a brainstorming session.

• What is the role of the alumni association for our fellow alumni? (Positioning)

• What are the core values to be shaped by the alumni association?

• What are the top three things on your expectation list for the alumni association?

Finally, as per our discussion, the alumni association can focus on six aspects in their work going forward.

1. Love (Ongoing engagement with charitable activities to share love)

2. Learning (Making self-improvement, sharing and learning)

3. Fitness (Doing physical exercises, cultural and sports activities)

4. Connectivity (Making connections and networking)

5. Focus (Leveraging industry segmentation and resource complementarity)

6. Release (Strengthening our ties through gatherings)

Therefore, the alumni association hopes to bring more diversified activities to all of you in the future with enhanced organization and arrangement.

Meanwhile, the new alumni association has seen some changes in structure.

• Major Decision-making Committee (monitoring the key directions)

• CHEMBA Cover Star / Ambassador (inviting alumni with public influence to endorse CHEMBA)

• Think tank/advisory group (Offering advice and ideas to the alumni association on a regular basis)

• Building a branding team to publicize and market the CHEMBAprogram and alumni association in a targeted manner

• Segmentation: creating small sub-groups under different industry sectors to carry out more targeted activities

• Categorizing different cultural and sports activities by interest and hobby (such as Gobi race, running groups, marathon, tennis, badminton, soccer, etc.)

• Alumni associations in different regions collaborate to organize activities (i.e., Guangzhou, Foshan, Shenzhen, Dongguan, Zhuhai, Zhongshan and Jiangmen)

We will provide services and support to our fellow alumni to the best of our ability. We expect that for the next two years, our new alumni association will bring more vitality and delight and grow with all of you.

Lastly, I would say “THANK YOU” to leadership of Sun Yat-sen University and the University of Minnesota, for their strong support to our alumni association. They have given us plenty of insightful advice, as well as venue, resource and additional support when necessary.

Thank you all again for being with us today! Hopefully the new alumni association will live up to its expectation, and fill your lives with joy and happiness!

尊敬的中山大學(xué)嶺南學(xué)院各位領(lǐng)導(dǎo)、明尼蘇達(dá)大學(xué)卡爾森學(xué)院領(lǐng)導(dǎo)們、 CHEMBA 和 UMAA 廣州分會(huì)胡勇主席（ Simon ）、CHEMBA 項(xiàng)目主任、在座的所有校友以及 CHEMBA22 的新同學(xué)們：

能在這樣的場(chǎng)合與你們分享我的感受，我感到非常榮幸和高興。當(dāng)Simon把校友會(huì)的會(huì)旗遞給我時(shí)，我激動(dòng)不已，因?yàn)槲腋惺艿搅诵Ｓ褌儗?duì)我們的深切期望。在如此重要的時(shí)刻，我想說(shuō)四個(gè) "謝謝 "來(lái)表達(dá)我的心情。

首先，我想對(duì)CHEMBA 2022級(jí)新生說(shuō)聲 "謝謝"。感謝你們?cè)诒姸郋MBA項(xiàng)目中選擇了CHEMBA，這是個(gè)明智的選擇，就像我在2011年加入CHEMBA一樣，這個(gè)項(xiàng)目幫助我提高了專(zhuān)業(yè)知識(shí)、企業(yè)管理技能和運(yùn)營(yíng)能力，為我?guī)?lái)了更廣闊的視野和更好的全球視野。課程結(jié)束后，我開(kāi)始經(jīng)營(yíng)自己的企業(yè)，從課堂上學(xué)到的東西讓我在經(jīng)營(yíng)自己的公司時(shí)受益匪淺。

通過(guò)兩年的學(xué)習(xí)，我相信你們一定會(huì)有很大的變化，你們應(yīng)該在兩年內(nèi)實(shí)現(xiàn)自我提升。這是踏踏實(shí)實(shí)學(xué)習(xí)、重新發(fā)現(xiàn)自己、實(shí)現(xiàn)新突破的寶貴機(jī)會(huì)。

但與此同時(shí)，這將是一個(gè)非常具有挑戰(zhàn)性的過(guò)程。你可以想象一下，當(dāng)你在一周的工作后精疲力竭時(shí)，你還需要在周末上課、參加小組討論和做演講。我記得自己有好幾次因?yàn)樘鄱谡n堂上睡著了。有時(shí)，我們很難在上課和工作之間取得平衡，或者太忙而無(wú)暇顧及家庭。

我相信，在這兩年的時(shí)間里，你們都會(huì)自我成長(zhǎng)，因此，當(dāng)你們需要幫助時(shí)，除了同學(xué)之外，還有更多的人可以幫助你們。我們 CHEMBA 和 UMAA 的 600 多名校友都會(huì)支持你們。我們隨時(shí)歡迎你們與我們自由交談和討論，校友會(huì)永遠(yuǎn)站在你們這邊！

第二聲 "謝謝 "要送給校友會(huì)主席 Simon和他領(lǐng)導(dǎo)的團(tuán)隊(duì)。在過(guò)去的四年中，COVID-19 大流行肆虐了三年，給個(gè)人、家庭和公司帶來(lái)了巨大的打擊。在這三年中， Simon帶領(lǐng)的校友會(huì)團(tuán)隊(duì)為校友們送去了所需的物資和關(guān)懷。正是這樣的關(guān)懷和愛(ài)，讓600 名校友團(tuán)結(jié)在了一起。

我的下一個(gè) "感謝 "對(duì)象是為新校友會(huì)提供大力支持的校友們。在我們籌建新校友會(huì)領(lǐng)導(dǎo)團(tuán)隊(duì)時(shí)，40 多名校友在一次頭腦風(fēng)暴會(huì)議上共同討論了三個(gè)問(wèn)題。

1.校友會(huì)對(duì)我們的校友有何作用？定位是什么？

2.校友會(huì)要塑造的核心價(jià)值觀是什么？

3.在您對(duì)校友會(huì)的期望清單中，排在前三位的是什么？

最后，根據(jù)我們的討論，校友會(huì)在今后的工作中可以重點(diǎn)關(guān)注六個(gè)方面。

1. 愛(ài)（持續(xù)參與慈善活動(dòng)，分享愛(ài)）

2. 學(xué)習(xí)（自我完善、分享和學(xué)習(xí)）

3. 健身（參加體育鍛煉、文化和體育活動(dòng)）

4. 連接性（建立聯(lián)系和網(wǎng)絡(luò)）

5. 聚焦（利用行業(yè)細(xì)分和資源互補(bǔ)性）

6. 釋放（通過(guò)聚會(huì)加強(qiáng)我們的聯(lián)系）

因此，校友會(huì)希望在今后加強(qiáng)組織和安排，為大家?guī)?lái)更加豐富多彩的活動(dòng)。 與此同時(shí)，新校友會(huì)的結(jié)構(gòu)也發(fā)生了一些變化。

1. 主要決策委員會(huì)（監(jiān)督主要方向）

2. CHEMBA封面人物/形象大使（邀請(qǐng)具有公眾影響力的校友為CHEMBA代言）

3. 智囊團(tuán)/咨詢(xún)小組（定期向校友會(huì)提供建議和意見(jiàn)）

4. 建立品牌團(tuán)隊(duì)（有針對(duì)性地宣傳和推廣CHEMBA 項(xiàng)目和校友會(huì)）

5. 細(xì)分（在不同行業(yè)部門(mén)下建立小型分組，以開(kāi)展更有針對(duì)性的活動(dòng)）

6. 按興趣和愛(ài)好對(duì)不同的文化和體育活動(dòng)進(jìn)行分類(lèi)（如戈壁賽跑、跑步小組、馬拉松、網(wǎng)球、羽毛球、足球等）

7. 不同地區(qū)的校友會(huì)合作舉辦活動(dòng)（如廣州、佛山、深圳、東莞、珠海、中山和江門(mén)）。

我們將為校友們提供力所能及的服務(wù)和支持。我們期待，在未來(lái)的兩年里，我們新的校友會(huì)將為大家?guī)?lái)更多的活力和喜悅，與大家共同成長(zhǎng)。

最后，我要感謝中山大學(xué)和明尼蘇達(dá)大學(xué)的領(lǐng)導(dǎo)，感謝他們對(duì)我們校友會(huì)的大力支持。他們給了我們很多有見(jiàn)地的建議，并在必要時(shí)提供場(chǎng)地、資源和額外支持。
